How It Works

The Change System connects your young adult to an entire network of people who are rooting for them.

A Community-Based Approach

The Change System isn't just a teen center or a single program — it's a way to rally an entire community around young adults. Local businesses, nonprofits, employers, and mentors all participate through our NGEN platform.

Community partners post opportunities — jobs, volunteer activities, events, and mentoring — and your young adult can browse, participate, and get rewarded by the businesses themselves through a currency called MentorChips.

Employers post real jobs, do formal evaluations, and mentors help young adults read those evaluations to understand how to improve and grow. It's not about making them sit in one place — it's about empowering them to engage wherever they want to learn and grow.

Their World. Their Way.

Your young adult chooses which opportunities to pursue, which jobs to apply for, and which pathways to follow. The community is there to support them — not control them.

What Your Young Adult Gets

MentorChips Rewards

Businesses reward young adults with MentorChips when they check in to healthy activities — volunteering, learning, working, and more.

Real Jobs & Evaluations

Employers post jobs to NGEN, hire young adults, and provide formal evaluations they can review with their mentors.

Mentoring Pathways

Guided mentoring pathways in career readiness, leadership, financial literacy, and more — with mentors who walk alongside them.

The NGEN App

The app that connects it all — browse opportunities, check in, find jobs, see evaluations, and track growth over time.

Safety & Privacy

We take your young adult's safety and data privacy seriously.

In-Person Safety

  • Trusted, background-checked adult mentors are present at all in-person programs
  • Community partners are vetted before they can post opportunities on NGEN
  • No isolated, one-on-one situations — mentoring happens in open, group settings
  • Clear code of conduct for all adults and young adults in the system

Data & App Privacy

  • Young adults must be 13 years or older to use the NGEN app
  • We collect only what's needed: name, age range, community, and activity data
  • Data is never sold to third parties
  • Parents can request data access or deletion at any time
